Director, Business Development

Position Summary

The Director, Business Development is accountable for leading the company's new business development activity in Canada to maximize capacity utilization in existing case-ready facilities.  The Director, Business Development will also maintain solid relationships with key executives across Canadian customer organizations, and will seek to develop relationships with executives in potential customer organizations to achieve Vantage Foods’ growth objectives.

As a member of the Company’s senior management team, you are expected to contribute in developing, directing, and implementing initiatives that align with the strategic direction for continued growth and success; actively participate in senior management meetings; and build and maintain positive working relationships with all members of the senior management team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales and marketing strategy development and implementation within the organization.  This will include identifying target markets and customers; completing competitor analyses, and providing recommendations to address these issues; and executing on the sales plan
  • Supporting new product development with insights and recommendations for implementation in each Service Centre (SC)
  • Provide new product development ideas through a thorough understanding of key trends and changes in consumer tastes and behaviours
  • Work collaboratively with customers to make their new product development ideas a reality
  • Accountable to execute and deliver on earnings growth targets
  • Work with the Canadian COO to maximize capacity utilization in all operating locations through additional volume, either from existing customers or through new third party contracted
  • Build and maintain solid working relationships with existing or new retailer partners
  • Demonstrate the observable behaviours on an ongoing basis that support and drive cultural change with a focus on Vantage’s core values and cultural practices
  • Ensure Vantage’s management ‘rhythm’ is implemented and managed effectively through this role

  • Retail operations experience, preferably in meat or perishables
  • Retail knowledge should include merchandising and promotion
