Staff Accountant

Location: Belleville, Ontario

Reporting to the Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of accounting details within the finance department, including processing of the accounts receivable and accounts payable requirements. Ensures accuracy of G/L accounts and related financial details to ensure accurate reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accuracy in completing accounts receivable and accounts payable functions in a timely fashion. Includes processing sales invoicing, managing cash receipts, and reconciliation of accounts receivable. Answers supplier and customer inquiries as needed
  • Completes raw material receipt and pricing reconciliation processes. Maintaining pricing and costing files and related data entry
  • Process accounts payable invoices, disbursements, and reconciliation of accounts payable matters
  • Preparation and posting of daily and monthly journal entries accurately and in a timely fashion. Completes and provides information/analysis on general ledger account reconciliations
  • Assists the Controller with accounting functions, as well as weekly and monthly financial statement preparation
  • Prepare monthly HST return
  • Analyzing data for accuracy and compiles various management reports as needed
  • Routine office administration issues, including receiving incoming/outgoing mail and courier. May complete special analytical projects and support for the Controller as assigned

Your Skills and Competencies

  • High school graduation or college diploma in business or accounting, with 3+ years of related accounting experience. Equivalent levels of education and experience may also apply
  • Excellent oral communication and customer service skills in dealing with suppliers and customer representatives. Possesses strong problem-solving, analytical, and organization skills, with strong attention to detail on accounting and bookkeeping matters
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • In-depth knowledge of ACCPAC accounting software
